This final trailer comes just two weeks ahead of the film’s 11th February release date and is perhaps our best look at the overall project to date. There’s glimpses here of that cargo-plane sequence we’ve seen before, but also of other several other set pieces - including an eye-catching airborne pirate ship chase where Holland swings from one galleon to another while both dangle from helicopters. Yeah. There’s also a bit where a villain allows Sully to chat to Nate while simultaneously being garrotted, a bit where Nate apologises for yeeting another chap out a plane, and a weird conversation between the two stars about owning a cat....

These actions are essentially who you spare and kill on your adventure. They essentially fall into three categories - Pacifist (sparing everyone), Natural (some healths) and Genocide (kill everything). As the game keeps track of how each playthrough ends up we’d strongly suggest a Pacifist walkthrough first followed by Genocide in order to get the standard version of each, and then you’re free to experiment. There’s also a bonus ‘Hard Mode’ to discover, too....

Released in 2008 for the Nintendo DS, Sonic Chronicles: Dark Brotherhood was an RPG developed by Bioware with turn-based combat. Originally it had a hand drawn opening cinematic, similar in style to the excellent Sonic CD, but this was scrapped in the final release by SEGA in favour of a montage of gameplay footage. Animation expert Jonathan Cooper released the original intro cinematic on Twitter, which sees Sonic battling against Robotnik (or Eggman, if you will) and being chased by missiles....

Four politicians, including former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, signed a letter to the Federal Trade Commission alerting it to the issue, The Wall St Journal has reported. The FTC is currently examining the details of Microsoft’s proposed $68bn deal to buy Activision Blizzard, which is expected to be finalised next year. The letter points out that the acquisition process risks dampening down an employee push for accountability, and undermining it by allowing Kotick to remain in place and therefore receive a sizable payout if he leaves on good terms....

“I am not getting any younger,” Wolpaw told KiwiTalkz (thanks, Kotaku). “We are reaching the point where it’s crazy to think [the original development team is] literally going to be too old to work on Portal 3, so we should just do it.” Unfortunately, Wolpaw acknowledged the business considerations of Valve focusing a chunk of its workforce on a Portal 3 - especially when the company had the money-printing Steam and hugely successful Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to run instead....

Let’s start with the base PS4. This console is surprisingly well-optimised for both the campaign and 6v6 multiplayer, and is more or less locked to 1080p at 60fps. Warzone 2.0 though? That’s a different story, sadly. 60fps is possible, while you’re in the plane or during 2v2 gulag matches, but when you’re out in the world frame drops are an inevitability and texture pop-in becomes hard to ignore. Frame-rates of 40-60fps are common, and this drops into the 30s in the most frenetic moments of combat....

Ubisoft has promised this show will reveal the “future” of Assassin’s Creed, beginning with next year’s Baghdad-set stealth game Mirage. But we’re hoping and expecting much more as well - including a look, and hopefully some concrete details, on the company’s ambitious-sounding Infinity platform for the future of the franchise....

For what it’s worth, early trailers and info from the Resident Evil Showcase seem to indicate that Village will play similarly to the well-received Resident Evil 7, with a first-person perspective and an emphasis on caution. In fact, it seems we’ll be playing as Ethan Winters from the previous game, making his way through a snowy European village filled with monsters after burly zombie-killer Chris Redfield pulls him out of his peaceful life....

In a wide-ranging New York Times interview, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said Microsoft had “at this point… sold more of this generation of Xboxes, which is Xbox Series X and S, than we had any previous version of Xboxes.” On the surface, this may not be too surprising - Microsoft has effectively doubled its chances this generation with two very different console models, each of which offers its own proposition....

These badges are already used to denote titles available via Xbox Game Pass, or that have Xbox Series X/S-specific features. New badges are being tested for other game conditions, so you can see at a glance what you have available to play. For example, a new logo will appear over games that are disc installs where that disc isn’t currently inserted - perhaps it’s around a friend’s? Or down the back of the sofa?...
