Ascension, as the free update is officially known, got its unveiling as part of tonight’s PlayStation State of Play livestream, but significantly more information has now arrived in a new PlayStation Blog post. The headline, though, is that the update - significant enough to warrant boosting its version number up to 3.0 - will bring campaign co-op and a new survival mode. Come Ascension’s arrival, two-player co-op can be accessed via the Chronosis portal near the crash landing and in other select parts of the game....

RimWorld, developer Ludeon Studios’ widely acclaimed sci-fi colony sim, was refused classification in Australia last month, preventing its release and effectively banning it from sale. As Matt posited at the time it wasn’t a particularly surprising decision given the Australian Classification Board is notoriously sensitive around certain issues in games, and RimWorld is, after all, a simulation whose incredibly deep systems make drug-fuelled cannibalism an entirely legitimate pastime for colonist....

The settlement, announced at the end of December, brings to a close the class action suit filed by employees back in 2018. Numerous staff members, past and present, said Riot Games had been a toxic place to work where sexism was commonplace. More than 2000 women joined the suit. Out of the $100m total, $80m will be paid to women in full-time and contract positions. Riot will also reserve $6m each year for three years to adjust pay, create 40 full-time positions for affected contractors, and to have third-parties monitor its progress....

It’s bad news for Red Dead Online players, who have for some time complained the game had been underserved and overlooked by Rockstar in comparison to the more lucrative GTA Online. Now, Rockstar has laid out its plan to keep Red Dead Online on life support and acknowledged its greater focus on GTA6. “Over the past few years, we have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series - understanding more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be,” Rockstar wrote, “and as a result, we are in the process of making some changes to how we support Red Dead Online....

The mods come courtesy of user Halfmillz over on Nexus Mods (thanks IGN), with four available with which to tweak your game. There’s the Neo suit that turns the game’s lead into Keanu Reeves’ Mr Anderson; there’s the Agent Smith mod that turns all enemies into the iconic nemesis; a ReShade mod adds a green hue to it all; and lastly you can change the sound effects to match the film....

Now, PlayStation users in the UK have been receiving email invitations from Sony giving them exclusive access to the opportunity to purchase a PS5. The email gives lucky recipients a unique link to access the sale along with other PlayStation users. According to the email, users were selected “based on previous interests and PlayStation activities”, though it’s unclear what activities qualify. It’s worth noting I received the invitation despite the fact I already own a PS5 (which I suppose does show interest in the console)....

Several who have raised the matter with PlayStation customer support say they have been told Sony has “temporarily” disabled the ability to stack Plus subscription time ahead of the new PS Plus changes due in June. Now, numerous reports from customers via Twitter, reddit and gaming forum Resetera suggest PlayStation has paused the ability to stock up on further Plus subscription time and game the system. “I have checked the voucher and your account and can conclude that as of now there is a temporarily deactivated function for PS Plus/PS Now subscriptions which does not allow for stacking of either membership on already active memberships,” one customer was told via PlayStation Support (thanks, PushSquare)....
