It’s a timely rumour, not least because it coincides with LucasFilm moving away from its exclusivity deal with EA, including plans to make a new open-world game based on the fan-favourite franchise with Ubisoft. “They’ve now finished their contract with Sony and will be signing with Disney,” French YouTuber Gautoz said in a video this week (thanks, VGC), hypothesising that Quantic’s recent push back on hostile work environment allegations was to preserve this newly forged partnership....

Overall, Nintendo Switch has now sold 114.3m consoles worldwide, with another 6.68m sold over the last two quarters. 2.23m of these were of the original 2017 Switch, while Switch OLED sold 3.53m and Switch Lite sold 920k. However, Nintendo admitted it had sold 19.2 percent fewer consoles year-on-year over the financial year so far - in part, it said, due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage. In response, Nintendo has cut its Switch sales forecast for the year from 21m to 19m consoles....

Each console app contains a numbered list of games ordered alphabetically, with gaps for upcoming titles. But some of these gaps are so small it is obvious which game will alphabetically fill the space (thanks, MondoMega). This all tallies with Eurogamer’s own knowledge of these apps’ development, and that these games are already planned out and simply waiting to be drip-fed into the service over time. More intriguingly, these Nintendo Switch Online platforms are numbered - with N64 as “3” and Mega Drive as “5”....

Eurogamer understands this is not accurate. The story was sparked by Duracell UK’s marketing manager Luke Anderson, who said the following in an interview with Gfinity blog Stealth Optional: “There’s always been this partnership with Duracell and Xbox… it’s a constant agreement that Duracell and Microsoft have in place. “[The deal is] for OEM to supply the battery product for the Xbox consoles and also the controllers’ battery. So that [deal is] going to go on for a while… it’s been going on for a while and I think it needs to go for a while [more]....
