The document, published as part of Sony’s 2021 investor relations day, focuses on the company’s Game & Network Services Segment. It’s penned by PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, and includes a number of interesting bits of information that reveal Sony’s masterplan for its money-printing video games business. Nintendo will delete its compilation of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy from the Switch eShop servers on 31st March. Physical copies will become harder to find, meanwhile, with no more new shipments apparently due. We’ve asked Nintendo exactly when the game will be removed from the Nintendo Switch eShop - in case you do decide on a last-minute purchase. Meanwhile, boxed copies of the game are currently still readily available....

Riders Republic, revealed at the tail-end of last year, is something of a spiritual successor to Ubisoft’s under-appreciated winter sports effort Steep, albeit with that game’s focus on snowy pursuits expanded out to encompass a wide range of different activities - snowboarding, biking, skiing, and wing suit action (both vanilla and jet-powered) - across varied terrain. Solo and co-op play is supported as players participate in events across Riders Republic’s world - stitched together from seven iconic US national parks: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite Valley, Sequoia Park, Zion, Canyonlands, Mammoth Mountain, and Grand Teton - but Ubisoft is very much pushing large-scale competition as a focus, including races with upward of 50 players....
ORIGINAL STORY 21/3/21: Ubisoft has removed newly-added decorations and quests from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla after the content caused players’ systems to crash. Ostara Festival arrived in Ravensthorpe earlier this week as part of Valhalla’s seasonal free content. Running until 8th April, it features the return of drinking, archery and fighting mini-games and three new questlines let Eivor go egg hunting, fight off night spirits, and become a May Queen, but it’s the new settlement decorations that are causing a little trouble....
Lead development on Scalar is being undertaken by Ubisoft Stockholm, which is also creating a new IP that will use this technology in an under-wraps game. A flashy trailer today said Scalar will enable “the construction of gigantic game worlds at a scale far greater than anything that’s come before” and support “massive numbers of assets, simulations, AI and player entities”. “Games using Ubisoft Scalar can use a virtually unlimited amount of computing power, and thus run anything from virtual worlds of unprecedented scale and depth to vastly detailed simulations that wouldn’t be possible otherwise,” Ubisoft said in a press release....
Nvidia responded to the leak saying the games were “speculative” and “used only for internal tracking and testing”, though various projects on that list were reported to be real - if in some cases outdated. Now, a new development gives further credence to the list’s reliability. Pavel Djundik, the dataminer and creator of SteamDB, said in a tweet that Ubisoft had issued him a DMCA notice for the list. I can confirm that the list, previously hosted on Github, is indeed now offline....
This listing (spotted by PSU) is for a scriptwriter and reads: “Using the first Splinter Cell game as our foundation we are rewriting and updating the story for a modern-day audience”. The post goes on to state that Ubisoft intends to “keep the spirit and themes of the original game” with this remake while “exploring [its] characters and the world to make them more authentic and believable.” The job description closes with Ubisoft stating it is looking for a writer who can create a “cohesive and compelling narrative experience for a new audience of Splinter Cell fans”....

While there is a chance these armour models for Ellie were intended to merely act as placeholders during The Last of Us Part 2’s initial multiplayer development, it is interesting to see what Naughty Dog was working on before its multiplayer became a standalone game. Before you get stuck into Valheim modding, you’ll need to download a couple of prerequisite mods that make the rest of Valheim modding possible. One of these is Valheim Unstripped DLLs, which Vortex (Nexus Mods’ mod manager) will recommend installing. Another mod called BepInExPack for Valheim carries out a similar function, providing a general purpose framework for Unity modding, which basically gives mod creators the tools they need to alter Valheim ( and you’ll need to download it for these mods to work)....
