In a new blog, Microsoft announced Squanch Games’ comedy-shooter is Xbox Game Pass’ biggest launch of 2022. Not only that, it is also the biggest third-party Game Pass launch ever, and “the biggest release of a single player-only game in the service’s history”. Speaking on this news, Squanch Games COO Mike Fridley stated the studio was “blown away by the response” from players, while Xbox’s Matt Percy said High on Life was a “unique title” the company had been “excited about for a long time”....

But really, where it truly matters, Hitman 3 delivers on all next-gen systems - principally via a commitment to 60 frames per second gaming. In previous Hitman titles on consoles, IO offered users a choice: the ability to play with a 30fps cap, or alternatively to allow frame-rate to run unlocked. On top of that, the enhanced consoles offered both quality and performance modes, with various resolutions. Hitman 3 dispenses with all of this, delivering a flat 60fps performance level on all systems and with no need to choose between quality and performance modes....

Word of the substantial easter egg first surfaced over the weekend, when former Homefront: The Revolution developer Matt Phillips revealed the TimeSplitters 2 cameo seen in Homefront’s retail version - two story levels playable on an in-game arcade cabinet - was originally intended to be “fully playable” via an unlock code that was never publicly released. Unfortunately, “the unlock code has been lost to time,” Phillips tweeted, explaining he no longer had the notebook with it in any more....

While the game has proven popular on Steam, where it holds a very positive user rating, a handful of negative reviews from homophobic players have appeared, unhappy with the toggle. To be clear, LGBT+ billboards already appear in the game by default. But the toggle turns all billboards into LGBT+ flags instead of removing them, something some players have misinterpreted. King Arthur: Knight’s Tale is nothing like the Heath Ledger film of yesteryear. This is dark, gothic and grim - much more like the Batman films, actually. The game’s premise is Arthur and Morded had their fateful battle at Camlann, and killed each other, as the story goes, but then they were brought back from the dead to, well, fight each other again. It’s a bit ridiculous, in no small part because the entire supporting cast of Arthurian Legend have been brought back from the dead too, but it does give the game a distinctive viewpoint....
