The problem centres around the fact that many players created EA accounts in the distant past - for one reader who got in contact, it was over a decade ago - and tied it to an email address that has long since been shut down. For anyone with a now-abandoned school or work email, it’s a familiar story. In such cases, when EA’s account system asks for a password reset, it can only send an email to that lost address....

The industry chatter has served to reassure some fans concerned by the fact they had not heard anything more of the project since its announcement at E3 in June 2019. Over the weekend, Venturebeat’s Jeff Grubb, speaking on the GamesBeat Decides podcast said that fans would not have to wait long for information, and alluded to having seen strong evidence the project was definitely “not vapourware”. Shortly after, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier chipped in on Twitter to say there was “strong evidence floating around that the game will be shown relatively soon”....

FromSoftware’s previous patch for the game added new features like NPC icons and quests, as well as balance changes. But nerfing the infamous boss Starscourge Radahn was unintentional. Speaking to Xbox Wire Japan (translated by IGN), Miyazaki discussed development of the game’s world and key inspirations. “Our first step when designing the map was to decide where the bosses would appear, especially the important ones,” said Miyazaki. “Therefore, the map was really designed on the basis of boss gameplay, then we adjusted the boss gameplay based on their location on the map.” That approach was similar to FromSoftware’s previous Souls games, plus Bloodborne and Sekiro, despite Elden Ring being the studio’s biggest and most open world to date....

It’s a common thread in some of my personal favourites - think Dishonored, The Last of Us, Gone Home - because of the many uninhabited homes we get to explore in those worlds. Am I a platonic voyeur? For console users at least, F1 22 changes where it needs to. Obviously, the new cars, liveries and drivers are in place, while the circuits are tweaked in line with their real-life counterparts, along with a small boost to detail. Similar to last year’s offering, ray traced reflections are also part of the mix. However once again ray tracing features only engage in out-of-race sections on console, such as replays, which are accompanied by a drop to 30 frames per second....

In a blog post, Factorio director and designer Michal Kovarik said this expansion will be significant enough to capture people’s attention. It’s too early to discuss what the expansion is, exactly, but the developers have started work on it, and “we don’t think that it will take less than a year to develop”. Perhaps we’ll see a release at some point in 2022. Steam hit Factorio launched in August 2020 and was met with an overwhelmingly positive reception....

From today, 1st November, until Sunday, 6th November, players can find four Doctor-Who-themed costume sets in Fall Guys’ premium item shop, costing 800 Show-Bucks apiece. There’s one inspired by Tom Baker’s legendary fourth Doctor, one based on Jodie Whittaker’s incarnation, and a third modelled after the latest David Tennant regeneration - which the BBC is officially referring to as the Fourteenth Doctor - as seen at the end of showrunner Chris Chibnall’s recent swansong The Power of the Doctor....

Made by ThrillDaWill (via PCGamesN), this project, known as L3go Fallout, is truly a sight to behold. It comes with its own character creator and, of course, a wasteland to explore. In ThrillDaWill’s words: “This fan-made project combines two of the best things! Stepping on legos with your bare feet, and endless bugs and glitches!!” The game is still in its early stages, but that doesn’t make it any less fun to see Fallout’s vault (and its Radroaches) reimagined in a blizzard of bricks and studs....

As reported below, a number of new data centres are due to open this year to ease congestion in the game. The data centre has added five new worlds and the Home World Transfer Service will open on 26th January for players to move their existing characters across for free. Both newly created and transferred characters will receive double EXP up to level 80. Other gifts are also available, detailed here....

The celebration marks the anniversary of the PS1 JRPG’s release in 1997 and will be shown on YouTube and Twitch. It’s just 10 minutes and promises “a first look at all the information surrounding the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7”. Of course, fans are hopeful that Final Fantasy Remake Part Two will be shown in some capacity, though it’s likely still a long way off. More likely is an update on mobile battle royale The First Soldier and mobile remake of the original Ever Crisis....
