The full game is slated to release sometime this year, although at the time of writing no further specifics were given. Agent 64: Spies Never Die is all very James Bond GoldenEye a la the Nintendo 64 era, from the music and the weapons to the settings. There is even footage of the shooter - I assume the titular Agent 64 - finishing someone off in a toilet stall. Small me is very happy to see this and will most likely be heading to Steam to download the demo once I have finished work for the evening....

The hugely-popular wrestler turned movie star will join Epic Games’ battle royale as part of a WWE promotion that also emcompasses the publisher’s Rocket League and Fall Guys. Today’s announcement comes just days after former WWE boss Vince McMahon announced his retirement from the company, amidst multiple claims of sexual misconduct. Cena will arrive in Fortnite’s item shop from 1am UK time on Friday, 29th July, with various accessories including his trademark U Can’t C Me taunt as an emote....

Tomorrow’s new release As Dusk Falls, a stylish narrative adventure Eurogamer just recommended in its review, is also part of the list. As Dusk Falls is the first game from new studio Interior/Night, which formed as a breakaway from the controversial Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream. For more on all that, Eurogamer’s Ed Nightingale recently visited the studio to sit down with its founder Caroline Marchal. Watch Dogs 2 is probably my favourite of Ubisoft’s near-future open world series....

The premium player pack, for sale now on the PlayStation Store and Steam, offers six “chance deals” (plus two more if you pre-order). A chance deal item lets you sign one of 16 featured players with an “exclusive design”. These players include Lionel Messi, Neymar, Takefusa Kubo, Ansu Fati, Dayot Upamecano, Marcus Rashford and Jonathan dos Santos. You can “pre-purchase” this pack now, but you can’t actually use the chance deals until an update scheduled for 11th November....

In Lake, as Meredith Weiss, you have the help of your trusted delivery van to make the rounds. It’s a third-person adventure narrative set at the end of the summer of 1986 in a leafy, sleepy village in Oregon, with, yep, a photogenic and peaceful lake at the centre of the community. Meredith, now in her 30s, is taking a short break from her busy city life by returning to her hometown for the first time in years....

Eagle-eyed fans have found what they think is the foot of an AT-ST walker - the chicken-legged tanks most famous from their appearance in Return of the Jedi. Fittingly, this scene appears to be placed in a forest area - which looks very like the forest moon of Endor. Hey! Maybe this means Kingdom Hearts 4 will get Ewoks too? Fans have been lining up images of the object shown in the trailer with official images of the AT-ST - and yeah, there’s definitely a similarity there....

Despite fears to the contrary: the information on Nintendo’s official Mario Kart page reads: “Courses from Wave 1 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass can be played from 18th March locally or online in Friends and Rivals races, even if only one player owns the Booster Course Pass or has access to it as part of a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. “From March 22nd, courses from Wave 1 will also appear in the Random selection when playing Global or Regional races with anyone online”....

So, as I am sure you have surmised, I am also really enjoying the new courses that are steadily arriving as part of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s DLC. Last night, with a pizza in the oven and the snow falling softly outside, I curled up on the sofa and tried my hand at the newly released waves. It was fun. I collected lots of coins. As spotted by Kotaku, Minecraft Java’s new version 1.17 has deleted the splash screen message “Woo, /v/!” - a reference to 4chan’s /v/ video game channel. The message had sat in the code of the original Java Minecraft for over a decade, added by long-departed creator Markus “Notch” Persson. It was never featured in the newer Bedrock version of the game available on consoles, mobiles and Windows. Microsoft has not commented on the removal, though it’s not difficult to see why developer Mojang would prefer not to advertise the infamous NSFW imageboard in its kid-friendly sandbox game....

Arkham City was first released in 2011, and has since been remastered for PS4 and Xbox One in the Batman: Return to Arkham collection. Digital Foundry called this release a “mixed bag”, and stated they thought the original PC release was the “definitive” release. But the PC version of Arkham City has not had a remastered edition - something which modder GPUnity set out to change. GPUnity has released HD texture packs for other games in the past, including Nier: Automata....

The Mothman Prophecies is my favourite cryptid book, because it takes a bunch of sightings of shadowed beasts and UFOs and lights and what-have-you, and it just screws with them from page to page, a truly rangy postmodern text, playfully twitching at the fore-edges of belief and our sense of a shared reality. The movie, which I saw one rainy Sunday afternoon back when it came out, almost undone by a throbbing migraine, turned out to be the perfect movie for rain, for Sundays and migraines - again, taking the idea of horror films and extra-terrestrial investigations and turning it all into something where the detailing lines up and points towards a deep psychic wrongness....

When word of the BioShock adaptation first broke in February, there was little to go on beyond the fact it was being developed alongside publisher Take-Two and Vertigo Entertainment with an eye on turning it into a cinematic universe. Now, though, Netflix has revealed that two key roles on the project have now been filled, with Francis Lawrence having signed on in the director role. There’s no word on a release date for Netflix’s BioShock adaptation just yet, with the streaming service only saying it’s coming “soon”....

But one video game franchise that has already seen numerous adaptations is Resident Evil. We have been gifted with big budget live action films and CG miniseries over the years. Now there’s yet another take on the zombie-filled world of Racoon City, thanks to Netflix. This show follows Jade Wesker (daughter of series regular Albert Wesker) as she fights to survive in a world overrun by blood-thirsty infected creatrures. So, some pretty standard Resident Evil stuff....
