An upcoming fan-project known as Jurassic Park Operations from Krenautican sees action from the 1993 film reimaged in PlayStation’s game creation system. And, I won’t lie, it looks so good I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn’t watching something from Spielberg himself. While this project has evidently been in the works for a while, the team recently revealed its full trailer for the game. This trailer sees voices from the original film overlaid with moments from Krenautican’s fan-made game....

The original Little Nightmares debuted for PC and consoles back in 2017, telling the deliciously unsettling tale of yellow-raincoated moppet Six, as she attempted to escape The Maw - a strange underwater vessel inhabited by a multitude of bizarre residents. The adventure was warmly received on release, with Eurogamer contributor Edwin Evans-Thirlwell calling it a “masterpiece of meat and malice” in his Recommended review. “It’s a rebuke to the sentimentality with which childhood is regarded in many other games,” Edwin wrote of its horrors, “a reminder that if to be young is to have the world at your feet, it’s also to inhabit a realm of giants....

Created by a group of modders going by the name of Source VR Mod Team, Half-Life 2: VR Mod has had a bit of a bumpy journey to release. Eurogamer first reported on the project back in 2017, but that version was actually an extension of an earlier mod released for Razer Hydra in 2013. Some time after, it disappeared into what the team recently called “its own kind of development hell”, almost being abandoned, but eventually re-emerged in 2021....

GoldenEye With Mario Characters is the work of modder StupidMarioBros1Fan. The mod launched in January 2018, and to mark its three year anniversary, StupidMarioBros1Fan released a big update that includes the Peach’s Castle level, which replaces the Egyptian level at the end of the existing mod. The video below, from YouTube channel Graslu00, shows off gameplay of the Peach’s Castle level. It’s quite unnerving to see Mario shoot up the place with GoldenEye guns, watching the Koopas slump to the floor, dead....

Bucky’s moveset is described as having “echoes” of Avengers core characters Captain America and Black Widow, alongside “all-new animations, a new full skill tree, and heroic abilities all his own”. The character will be voiced by Friday Night Lights’ Scott Porter, who previously voiced Bucky in Lego Marvel’s Avengers. November’s update will also add a new endgame activity - Cloning Lab Omega-Level Threat - which will let you face off “one last time” against the revived MODOK in a multiplayer fight for four high-level heroes of at least Power level 175....

Specifically, this is affecting those who pre-purchased the game in the UK, as well as Australia, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, and Switzerland. The new price is £49.99, down from £54.99. Customers will now need to cancel their pre-purchase of the game to receive a full refund and then pre-purchase the game again at the new price. As detailed in a new Microsoft blog post, the Xbox Insider trial version of the scheme will enable anyone with a special Insider Preview Game Pass plan to invite up to four people to share that subscription, with each one then gaining unique access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate’s full selection of games, content, and benefits. The immediate catch right now is that the test is only available to those in Colombia and Ireland....

Microsoft announced the Pulse Red pad this afternoon, and it is due to go on sale “in most Xbox markets” on 9th February, priced at the standard £54.99/$64.99 RRP. While there are numerous colours of controller for the previous Xbox One model (and you can even customise your own), only three are available for the Xbox Series X/S at present: Carbon Black, Robot White, and Shock Blue. Released on mobile in Japan in October 2020, the game serves as a prequel to the popular JRPG. More news is due to arrive in mid-February. Champions of the Continent takes place in the same world, with a story consisting of three paths and a new cast of characters. It features turn-based battles with up to eight characters and includes free-to-play and in-app purchases gameplay mechanics - something that some Western players have disliked....

Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan is still scheduled to open on 4th February, but visitor numbers will, naturally, be limited upon opening to avoid crowds and advance registration is mandatory. Thanks to Dippy22, however, Nintendo fans who also happen to be Minecraft players can live vicariously through their painstakingly recreation based on plans and photos of the new theme park. The 1:1 remake is apparently 45 per cent complete and the screenshots show off an incredibly faithful homage which hopes to have “3D models of every unique design this land has to offer” (thanks, PCGN)....

Wanda was a weaponsmith on Golden Sands outpost back in year one, as unremarkable a background character as any of Sea of Thieves’ NPC shopkeepers. One day, though, something strange occurred. Word began to spread among players that Wanda was behaving shiftily; she forgot her name, lost her voice, and started hiding her arm behind her back whenever anyone was in range. More inquisitive sorts thought to catch her unawares, scaling atop her shack to peer through a window unseen....

This puts it amongst the fastest SSDs ever produced, and make it an incredible performer at basically any task from content creation to gaming....

Let’s get the basics out of the way first - resolution and performance. Series X and PS5 both target 4K while Series S opts for 1440p, but dynamic resolution scaling (DRS) attempts to keep a locked 60fps by dropping internal resolution in heavier moments. I counted as low as 1800p on PS5 and 2016p on Series X, but in general play PS5 is around 1944p and Series X is at full 4K (2160p)....

Season 3 has yet to air on the streaming service, but already we have confirmation that for Season 4, Cavill is set to be replaced as titular monster-hunter Geralt of Rivia by Liam Hemsworth, most famous for playing Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games movie series. Cavill, who recently announced his return to the role of Superman for DC, issued a statement praising his replacement: “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill said....

That’s according to a new job advertisement put out by the company that seeks a new senior software engineer with “experience with game development”. As well as finding someone with all the necessary coding skills, Netflix hopes the new recruit will also have some experience in “Unity or Unreal game engines” and says it is “rapidly expanding new gaming offerings” on its global streaming service. “Bring your passion for games and joy of enabling others as we build our games experience,” the recruitment advertisement says (thanks, NME)....
