Bowser had been a long-term enemy of Nintendo for his role in Team Xecuter, a group which designed and sold console modchips to allow the play of pirated games. Torrentfreak reports Bowser recently changed his plea to guilty, admitting charges of circumventing technological measures and trafficking in circumvention devices. Bowser admits working with Team Xecuter from June 2013, with whom he “knowingly and willfully participated in a cybercriminal enterprise that hacked leading gaming consoles” via devices such as the Gateway 3DS, Stargate, TrueBlue Mini, Classic2Magic, and the SX....

Officially, Nintendo does not set hardware pricing in Europe - but the new £259.99 price mark for the console is seen by Nintendo as “appropriate for its own store” and is likely a price other retailers will now follow. “Nintendo of Europe is changing the European trade price of the Nintendo Switch console to retailers,” a company spokesperson told Eurogamer this morning. “More than four and a half years after its first release, Nintendo Switch continues to have strong sales momentum in Europe....

The company actually beat its own sales records two weeks running, first on the 15th November, and then again eclipsing that on the 22nd. These records relate to both Nintendo Switch consoles and games, in both the UK-specific market and across the whole of Europe. Nintendo did not publicly provide actual sales numbers, however. These weeks, of course, took in the lucrative Black Friday sales period and saw a particularly popular bundle offer fly off the shelves....

Goichi “SUDA51” Suda’s Tokyo-based studio signed a deal with the Chinese giant at the end of May, having previously been owned by GungHo Online Entertainment. Suda said NetEase will be mainly responsible for “advising on business planning activities” and providing funding for development, leaving Grasshopper to focus on production. Grasshopper will also benefit from NetEase’s game art and quality assurance support. Grasshopper recently released No More Heroes 3 on Nintendo Switch and, in 2019, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes....

The plot of Sword Art Online revolves around a massive multiplayer online role-playing game in VR, which is played using a headset called the NerveGear. A number of players get locked into the game and the NerveGear can’t be removed whilst a player is still online. And (spoiler alert) it’ll kill a player in real-life if they die in the game. Luckey revealed his own version of this headset, named the OQPNVG, in a blog post on 6th November, to coincide with the day the events of Sword Art Online begin....

A concept for the game’s main menu, designed by Blizzard senior UI artist Jayson Kirby, has popped up online via Artstation (as spotted by Attack of the Fanboy). The image shows a new look for the game’s homepage, complete with familiar options to access its hero roster, shop and challenges - but also a separate battle pass option. It’s worth stressing that this image is simply a concept, and Blizzard has not said anything about Overwatch 2 moving to a battle pass-style system....

The difficulty in taking advantage of this now is that Sony has stopped selling Now subscriptions - presumably to deter people who were previously not Now subscribers but who are after a bargain....

PlayStation Plus had 45.4 million subscribers as of 30th September this year, down more than two million from the 47.2 million signed up at the same point in 2021. Sony relaunched its PlayStation Plus subscription in June, when it split the service into three tiers and launched a Game Pass-style catalogue of games for those paying more. How many have opted into these higher-priced tiers? Sony does not say, though it does note that subscription revenue improved slightly - by around 10 percent - suggesting a decent number of people upgraded....

EA’s latest trailer for the game was published today on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel for Latin America, which has 664,000 subscribers, and wrongly labels the revived survival horror as coming to both PS4 and PS5. The listing sparked fan speculation and media reports that the game was also quietly being developed for PS4 and Xbox One. At the time of publication, the trailer is still online. This week’s reveal of gameplay for the Dead Space remake was well-received, though there has been criticism of EA’s decision to sell the game at a £70/$70 price point on consoles....
