Guardian of Remembrance features new story content (Battle for Kakariko Village, Battle of Goponga Village, and more), new stages (including the Coliseum), an expanded roster (including Sheikah researchers Purah and Robbie), and new battle skills for existing characters. “Zelda gets the Dynasty Warriors treatment once more, folding in inspiration from Breath of the Wild for the best musou spin-off yet,” said Martin Robinson in Eurogamer’s review of the game. The new content drops on 29th October for owners of the expansion pass, which is available for £17....

Established in 1998 - that’s 24 years ago and yes, thanks, that does make me feel very, very old - the Independent Games Festival was established to “encourage innovation in game development and to recognise the best independent game developers”, kind of like a Sundance for indie games. That’s according to an eagle-eyed fan on Reddit (thanks, PCGN) who spotted that the PSN Store’s listing of the game has been updated to state it supports “four network players”. Acutely aware that anyone can knock up a fake screenshot, I took the liberty of checking the PSN Store listing myself and yup, it’s there in black and white, although the description itself curiously still says you can play “in solo-play or with one other hero and drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it”....

That’s according to a new developer update from Larian Studios, which has now definitively confirmed that the highly-anticipated game won’t leave early access until 2023, affirming what Swen Vincke, founder of Larian and creative director of BG3, intimated to Eurogamer earlier this year. The open beta test, which was announced for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 during tonight’s Sony State of Play broadcast, kicks off on 20th November and runs until 22nd November. This week Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith (CSK&D), the firm behind the ongoing class action against Nintendo over Joy-Con drift, asked affected customers to get in touch via an online form. Clearly, that call to action did the trick. The DualSense lawsuit has now been filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on behalf of a plaintiff called Lmarc Turner, of Virginia, and other affected customers in the US against Sony Corporation of America and Sony Interactive Entertainment....

The volume includes two stories containing True Colors characters, as well as some Life is Strange fan favourites from the past. As part of the ongoing Life is Strange graphic novel series, the comic book features Before the Storm’s Steph Gingrich in a story set between her appearance there and the upcoming True Colors, where she is set to fully return. The original Little Big Adventure - an evocative blend of platforming, puzzling, and exploration that charted the story of young hero Twinsen, on the run from evil dictator Dr. FunFrock - released back in 1994 and was followed by a sequel three years later. With both titles now over a quarter of a century old, they are, understandably, rather lacking in terms of modern day polish, and 2.21 is looking to remedy that as it seeks to bring the games to more players ahead of its planned third instalment in the Little Big Adventure series....

It’s a surprising announcement considering the fact this reboot was, until now, an entirely first-party project. Crystal Dynamics, meanwhile, is a subsidiary of Square Enix. But it does make some sense. The Initiative, Microsoft’s Santa Monica-based team set up to work on the project, was founded by former Crystal Dynamics boss Darrel Gallagher, and also counts Tomb Raider reboot director Daniel Neuburger among its ranks. “Perfect Dark update! We are partnering with Crystal Dynamics, the world class team behind character-driven games such as Tomb Raider, to bring this first-person spy thriller to a new generation,” The Initiative revealed on Twitter this morning....

It stems from Moonbreaker being a miniatures game. A friend called it Warhammer without the licence and that’s exactly what it is. You collect and paint the figurines you use in battle; figurines are the whole point, so it’s not surprising they behave like them and don’t move around like animated characters. They are frozen in whatever dramatic expression they’ve been given: cheering, charging, taking aim, whatever. And when they move, it’s as if someone picked them up and plonked them down somewhere else....

Confirmation came from Microsoft boss Satya Nadella in an investor-focused financial call last night. Unlike previous Halo games, Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is free-to-play, and its campaign is available as part of Game Pass as well as a premium, standalone purchase. Lore’s a funny thing when it comes to older games, especially those churned out in the heady industriousness of Japan’s bubble economy era, where production was often fast and loose. Maybe there was a deeper story sitting on a design document somewhere, a grand thread stringing these disparate worlds together, but I’m just as sure most of the detail was sketched in later by other hands - by someone in a marketing department on the other side of the world, perhaps, or some copywriter filling up space in one of the manuals that’d later become scripture....

A spiritual successor to Dreamcast cult classic Jet Set Radio, developer Team Reptile has captured that game’s cel-shaded graphics and sense of cool. However, beyond inline skating, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk also includes skateboarding and BMX cycling - as shown in a new “official movestyle” teaser. Players will ride, grind and flip across the game’s vibrant city, all in the name of graffiti tagging and looking cool. The teaser shows long strings of tricks linked together, bringing a touch of the Tony Hawk games too....

Ancient Dangers: A Bat’s Tale is a third person dungeon crawler from Media Molecule playable in single player or co-op with a friend. “Whether you’re after frantic combat against strange and silly foes, puzzles to tickle your brain cells, or a showdown against a dragon with huge teeth (and an even bigger ego), Ancient Dangers: A Bat’s Tale has you covered,” reads a PlayStation Blog on the update. The story follows a pair of orcs seeking a special herb to cure their grandmother’s snoring, and includes a “wise-cracking bat pal” and a dragon learning “the noble art of floristry”....
