And now a new leak suggests that one such announcement will be that of a new Crash Bandicoot game. Or, more specifically, a Crash Bandicoot multiplayer brawler from developer Toys For Bob. Chatting on the Windows Central Gaming Podcast (via PureXbox), Windows Central’s Jez Corden said the following: “New Crash? I wonder where you got that information from? I wasn’t supposed to leak that… I think we could see a new Crash Bandicoot, and not only is it going to be a new Crash Bandicoot, but it’s [also] going to be a multiplayer Crash Bandicoot… It’s like a four-player brawler almost but Crash oriented....

The Remastered Collection was originally due to launch last September, a mere two weeks after the arrival of the series’ latest entry Life is Strange: True Colors, but publisher Square Enix ultimately made the decision to postpone its release into 2022, citing “the ongoing challenges of the worldwide pandemic”. Square eventually announced a revised 1st February release date for the Remastered Collection on all platforms - Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Stadia - but with just weeks to go until that date is finally upon us, the publisher has swooped in with more bad news for Switch players....

A release date of 2nd February, the same day as the launch of the new season, was spotted in the Japanese version of a Stories from the Outlands trailer for Season 8. “On February 2nd, it will be possible to play on Switch at the same time as the start of Season 8”, the description read (as spotted by Apex Legends News). The same message was spotted in several other descriptions for the video, including the Polish and Danish versions, so it seems this wasn’t an isolated slip-up....

Dataminer AndyReloads has already filmed himself strutting around like Iron Man in a new suit of armour that lets you wield a chest laser akin to Stark’s own arc reactor. The design of the armour, and especially the colouring, are obviously Iron Man-themed. But - thankfully - you’re not actually Iron Man, and the rest of the design bears resemblence to those warn by the series’ technological Isu race. In May, the same dataminer published footage of another armour set, Master of Elements, which lets the user wield two Infinity Gauntlet-style gloves (thanks, Kotaku)....

The tease in question comes courtesy of noted presenter and producer Geoff Keighley, who shared some intriguing art on Twitter earlier today - featuring a heavily graffitied wall adorned with the word ‘Rebooting’ and, crucially, the Saints’ beloved fleur-de-lis emblem. The same image has now appeared on the official Saints Row Twitter feed and website - just in case there were any lingering doubts about its connection to the series - meaning the only real question left to ask at this juncture regarding what would be the first numbered Saints Row title to release since 2013 is, ‘When will we learn more?...

In fact, playing Lost Ark feels more like playing late-game Diablo 3 than an MMO - and I mean immediately. You immediately get several dazzling skills you can pulverise hordes of enemies with - and you do. You smash them up in the air, you crackle and fizz with lightning, and they pop like gory balloons around you. It’s brilliant fun. And all the time, I’m waiting for reality to set in....

The video, below, shows off combat and the hub area from Firaxis’ upcoming strategy game, which is developed by the XCOM team. Like XCOM’s combat, Midnight Suns’ combat is turn-based. But there are some key differences: the perspective is lower down and closer to the action, and movement is freeform, as opposed to playing out on a grid. Abilities are governed by a series of cards you obtain at the beginning of battle....

The BattleTech mecha game, already out on PC and Xbox, is the first time MechWarrior will be on a PlayStation console in over 20 years. PlayStation hasn’t had a proper MechWarrior game since MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat came out for the PSone in 1997. The PS5 version supports adaptive triggers and advanced haptics with the DualSense controller, senior community manager Daeron Katz wrote in a post on the PlayStation Blog....

Is Metroid Prime timeless? I’d put it slightly differently - it has an enduring sheen of recent-ness. Is that the same thing? Anyway: I watch the Morph Ball rushing through a ruined space station, the gold light on its equator lingering on the screen like burn-in, and I think: cor, those graphics are a bit special. I see the starting screen, with its bubbling microscopic horrors and I wonder if any new games will steal this unsettling method of introduction and build on it....

The deal, which is expected to be approved in 2023, was confirmed by Microsoft in a blog post from Xbox boss Phil Spencer. The monumental acquisition - by far the largest ever seen in video games, and the largest in Microsoft’s history - means Microsoft will own blockbuster franchises such as Call of Duty, Spyro, Guitar Hero, Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk from Activision, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, Hearthstone and StarCraft from Blizzard, as well as Candy Crush from mobile arm King....

Rainbow Six Black Ops 2.0 is a total conversion for Rogue Spear: Black Thorn, Red Storm Entertainment’s 2001 standalone add-on for Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear. Modder Menrva built upon a fan-made compilation released in 2014 to create what they called “the ultimate Rainbow Six experience”. Not fast-paced gunplay, but a game without commitment. Rather than knowing I have to devote hundreds of hours to the experience, I can fit in sessions across a range of timeframes thanks to multiplayer matches lasting around 15 minutes and frequent checkpoints in the campaign. It’s disappointing then that in three years between Modern Warfare entries, accessibility doesn’t appear to have progressed. Admittedly, what we’ve seen during the last two weekends has been restricted to multiplayer, but the settings available informs what we’re likely to see in the full release....

Revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct Mini, Monster Hunter Rise builds on the open-world style of exploration introduced in Monster Hunter World, with each environment existing as a seamless, single locale. According to Capcom, verticality is a key focus in Rise (as its name hints at), and players will have access to a new Clutch-Claw-like tool known as the Wirebug, a sort of hookshot enabling hunters to climb and swing up to places normally out of reach....

It’ll cost $39.99 USD (approximately £33) on each platform holder’s respective digital stores, and Xbox Game Pass fans can also rejoice as it comes to Microsoft’s subscription service, for both Xbox and PC, on launch day. As for Rise’s excellent Sunbreak expansion, that’s also on the way to the newly announced platforms, but will arrive at an unspecified later date, some time in “spring 2023”. As found by dataminer Sekiro Dubi, the latest update to the game includes data for text banners that read “You Win”, “You Lose”, “Draw”, and “Begin Match”. Elden Ring players have long speculated on the empty colosseums in the game and the potential for a future PvP mode - is this now on the way? Sekiro Dubi thinks so. Previously a legacy feature of the original Warzone, a Loadout Drop let players and their squad use custom-made loadouts rather than the weapons scavenged in the battle royale. While Loadout Drops would randomly spawn in the game world, buying a Loadout Drop grenade from a Buy Station would let you request a drop on demand. The absence of on-demand Loadout Drops in Warzone 2.0 was initially inferred as a design choice to force players to be more thorough in their scavenging....

What that actually means in practice isn’t immediately clear from the trailer’s rapid cuts and overbearing stylings, but EA sheds more light on the matter in an accompanying press release. “In Need for Speed Unbound,” it explains, “players have to take risks to get to the top. Choose how and when to put it all on the line, pulling huge drifts on the street, outdriving the cops, or placing side bets with their own earnings against rival racers....

Announced at The Game Awards, the game is a re-release of the PS3 and Xbox 360 follow-up to Persona 4. The Steam release of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will also be available in the Midnight Channel Collection that includes Persona 4 Golden. As the trailer shows, the game is a 1v1 2D fighting game featuring a roster of characters from Persona 4 and Persona 3. There’s a story too as the heroes combat an army of Shadows....

This trailer is narrated by the game’s director, Phil Crifo, and takes us from the island’s high peaks to the bottom of its azure ocean. Along the way, we are shown various methods of getting around the island in action. This includes things such as Tchia catapulting herself from the tops of trees and then gliding her way through the sky. We also get another look at the game’s soul-jumping ability, which allows Tchia to quickly hop into the body of almost any animal or inanimate object she can find....

In the video, below, we see an extra dungeons, extra costumes, the guest cast from Nier: Automata, and a look at an extra episode called Mermaid. 15 Nightmares - aka The World of Recycled Vessel - first released as DLC for the original 2010 action adventure. This is now included in the main, remastered game. Speaking of costumes and weapons, Nier Replicant has Kabuki and Samurai costumes, and costumes and weapons from Nier: Automata....
