And yet, hands are far more than just tools to get a job done. Ever since its discovery, the Cueva de las Manos in Argentina has fascinated people with the stencilled handprints of hundreds of human beings. Some of them reach out to us over a historical distance of nearly 10,000 years. There’s something both mysterious and mundane, distant and intimate about this sight. We can’t know the minds of the humans that left their handprints behind, but we do know that they were people like us, exploring and connected to the world around them through their hands....

As you would expect, the internet became flooded with the reactions to the star-studded cast, mostly with cries of “why!?” and wishful thinking that it was all a fever dream. Naughty Dog’s tragic epic The Last of Us Part 2 is arguably the biggest addition and will be available until 3rd January 2022. Lords of the Rings: Gollum was announced in March 2019, promising a Middle-Earth-inspired blend of “subtle tactical stealth”, environmental puzzling, climbing challenges, and “fast-paced parkour action”, all playing out across a mixture of open levels and more linear missions. Daedelic was originally aiming to launch Gollum last year, but ultimately made the decision to delay its release into 2022, although no reason was given at the time. This latest delay, though, has been made in order to “deliver the best possible experience”, according to the developer....

I distinctly remember talking to this person around the launch of The Witcher 1, in fact, back when no one here knew what it was. Then several years later we were in a Scottish castle together at a lavish play test event for The Witcher 3 - an event they had a large hand in organising. They’ve also had a significant hand in delivering many other games here, from Enslaved: Journey to the West to Ni No Kuni, and from Enter the Matrix to Pac-Man....

The home, or even just home in the wider sense, seems in many ways antithetical to the stories many games tell. Going on a journey means leaving home - RPGs in particular like to deal in permanent displacement. Baldur’s Gate 3 begins after your player character has been abducted by mind flayers, Divinity: Original Sin 2 similarly starts with your imprisonment and escape. JRPG classic Secret of Mana compels you to travel because you’ve been exiled from your village, and in Dragon Quest 11, the protagonist’s home is destroyed completely....

Whether you’re upgrading from the standard Switch or Switch Lite and already own already own a bunch of games, or if you are buying a Nintendo Switch for the first time and not fussed on what’s included in the bundles- purchasing the OLED variant on its own means you can simply buy a game of your choice - physical or digital. However, if you’re looking for a cheap Switch OLED bundle, Game is selling a bundle which includes the white Switch OLED and a copy of Pikmin 3: Deluxe or Paper Mario: The Origami King for £319....

It’s an important question, because as the old saying goes, there are no bad products, just bad prices. The RTX 4070 Ti is quite a strong option at $799, given its level of performance - particularly for those upgrading from Pascal (GTX 10-series) and Turing (20-series) GPUs or AMD’s equivalents. At $899 or $999 though, this graphics card starts to make much less sense. And with no Founders Edition cards available, we’re relying on third-party GPU makers to create SKUs that meet that price point - when it would be much more profitable for them to offer overclocked designs with oversized coolers and RGB bling for $50, $100 or $200 more....

Developer Maxis confirmed it was investigating ways to introduce expanded pronoun options to The Sims 4 last May - following a community petition signed by more than 22,000 people - and players got a first look at the feature’s progress during a livestream earlier this year. And now, with some additional development time under its belt, Maxis has pushed the first iteration of its customisable pronouns feature - developed in conjunction with LGBTQ+ nonprofit organisations It Gets Better and GLAAD - live, delivering what it calls a further step “in the direction of a more inclusive experience for Simmers”....

That’s according to a new Bloomberg report, which cites sources close to development. Eurogamer has heard of this project also, as well as early plans for it to include the city of Baghdad. Steam Deck has, of course, been in massive demand since its unveiling last July, with wait times for reservations rapidly stretching into this year. Unfortunately, supply chain issues forced Valve to delay initial shipments from the end of 2021 into this year, with further rollouts perhaps not as rapid as Valve would have liked. We’ve had plenty of updates since then - Valve said it would be ramping up production into “the hundreds of thousands” in March, while June saw it announce shipments would more than double in the coming months - and the latest brings great news for those that already have Steam Deck reservations....

Unfortunately, this assault rifle isn’t as competitive as you might’ve hoped, due to its finicky recoil, and slower Time to Kill (TTK). Released towards the end of Season 6, these have you find items on the map while playing matches by following a series of clues. Completing each one rewards you with XP - giving you a boost towards completing your current Battle Pass. Currently, as of Warzone Season 4, you can no longer complete this activity. Sony’s summer announcement show will include “exciting reveals” from the company’s third-partner partners, we’re told, plus a look at several games in development for PlayStation VR2. Does this rule out an update on God of War, PlayStation’s next big release? We’ll have to wait and see. Boy, keep those fingers crossed it’s still on track for 2022. As for those third-party partners, it feels like we’re overdue an update on Square Enix’s various Final Fantasy projects coming to PlayStation in the (hopefully) not too distant future: Final Fantasy 16 and FF7 Remake Part 2....
