One is the expected follow-up to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, with game director Stig Asmussen at the helm. Another team at Respawn is working on a Star Wars first-person shooter, with former LucasArts VP of development and executive producer on the original Star Wars Battlefront games, Peter Hirschmann, installed as game director....

Last week, Battlefield fans were invited to sign up to test a technical preview of the game, which they were not allowed to discuss even receiving. Of course, despite EA’s perhaps unrealistic wishes, word of the preview inevitably leaked, foreshadowing what was to come. Now, with the release of the preview, recordings of raw gameplay have popped up everywhere. Overnight, EA fired takedown notices to videos mainly hosted on Streamable, although if you do look hard enough you can find clips in the usual subreddits....

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard word of a new Ghostbusters game, of course; back in October, Raphael Saadiq, the co-founder of Friday the 13th and Predator: Hunter Grounds developer Illfonic, let slip that the studio was currently working on the title. Unsurprisingly though, given that the game is still yet to be officially announced, Saadiq hasn’t offered any update since, leaving movie fans uncertain of the project’s status....

Taking a leaf out of Ubisoft’s recent playbook - when it lay the entirety of its Assassin’s Creed plans on the table - CD Projekt Red has done similar, discussing projects which we’ll see release across the whole of the next decade. There’s going to be a new trilogy of new Witcher games, a Cyberpunk sequel, a new IP and various other spin-offs - though there was no word on Cyberpunk’s standalone multiplayer portion, and still no firm date for The Witcher 3’s long-awaited current-gen console update....

State of Play kicked off with a trailer for Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8, captured on PlayStation 5. Tekken veterans Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima knocked lumps out of each other in the rain. Yep, it’s a new Tekken! Next up, a game for PSVR2: Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge Enhanced Edition. This one’s out next year. And here’s another new PSVR2 game: the tabletop RPG-style dungeon crawler, Demeo....

The change comes because of “unprecedented” complaints from players who are frustrated by rounds that require teamwork, presumably because - and I know this from personal experience - there’s a small but pervasive underclass of players that thinks it’s funny to mess about and throw the round. “There has been unprecedented complaints regarding levels in which you compete as part of a unit,” reports Beanbot on the game’s hugely popular Twitter account....

Announced this weekend during Evo 2022, the as-yet untitled new Fatal Fury game will be the first for more than two decades. “New Fatal Fury / Garou is green-lit!” a teaser video proclaimed, alongside a glimpse of fresh artwork. SNK followed up this announcement with further confirmation in a tweet - though little more information was offered. “Legends never die…” SNK wrote. “After more than 20 years, Fatal Fury / Garou is coming back!...

It’s spread across multiple sub-modes, including a singleplayer story akin to The Journey from previous games, as well as an online multiplayer league where you climb through divisions, similar to the Seasons online section of the main game. FIFA 20 Volta Football is more than just a scaled-down version of the beautiful game, and you’ll have a new set of rules to learn, new controls to master, and a long list of cosmetic items to unlock as you customise the character you’ve created....

The move follows its break-up with long-standing FIFA game maker EA Sports - and after promises it would now use its name license elsewhere. The list includes blockchain-based metaverse game Uplandme, for which it is launching “FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in the Upland Metaverse”. Here, players will be able to collect “official FIFA World Cup digital assets, including legendary video highlights of the tournament” and purchase FIFA items for their Upland home....

As a result of the classification, speculation is growing that the release date of Final Fantasy 16 may be revealed soon. What’s more, producer Naoki Yoshida is set to appear at The Game Awards next week with a “very special live presentation”. Originally appearing in Season 6, raptors have returned to the island in Season 8, which is very fitting as see The Sideways, an alternative dimension, slowly encroaching upon our reality. Like wolves, you can still tame one of the coolest dinosaurs to have existed to fight alongside you in Fortnite. (Who am I kidding? All dinosaurs are cool!) Be careful though - raptors are dangerous creatures and, if you’re not prepared when you find a raptor, it will try to kill you....

With Christmas just around the corner, Fortnite has already jumped on the festive spirit with a set of new thematic quests. The first of them involves to spend some time warming yourself in the Cozy Lodge, which is a new area exclusive to this event. Completing this challenge will also reward you with 18k XP, which will help you unlock rewards from the first Chapter 3 Battle Pass. Note this particular challenge is no longer able to be completed....

Rather than running about the map and shooting anyone you come into contact with, finding a bounty will name a specific player for you to hunt down and eliminate. If you can complete a bounty in time, you’ll be rewarded with some gold bars. Be careful though - there’s always a chance that you will become the next bounty target! The potential tease can be found on one of the Fortnite island’s beaches, where a small-scale replica of the Helm’s Deep castle can be seen. For starters, let’s look at the Easter egg itself. Epic Games has been slowly building this little castle over the course of the latest season, via subtle map changes over the past couple of months. Each patch, Epic likes to reward long-term Fortnite fans with small changes to its map, featuring in-jokes and long-running background storylines....

To complete this challenge you must ensure that you search the golden llama head once you find it’s hidden location on the Fortnite map. Much like how you must search Skye’s swords in stones when you find them. Completing this challenge will earn you 40,000 XP, which will help you unlock the new Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 battle pass skins.
