Hades beat off competition from The Last of Us 2, Spiritfarer, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Blaseball. “Wish I could have attended the Hugo Awards in person,” tweeted Supergiant Games’ creative director, Greg Kasavin (thanks, NME)....

Season 8 of MCC is called Mythic and showcases Halo “in a deliberately divergent way”, 343 franchise and narrative writer at 343, Jeff Easterling, said in a post on Halo Waypoint. He’s not kidding. Each of the new armour sets for use in Halo 3 multiplayer within MCC is focused on “reimagining the core Mjolnir armour as alternate universe amalgams based on legendary ancient warriors”, including Greek and Norse mythology....

I managed around four hours of play last night, and found myself on the receiving end of the new grappling hook more times than I would have liked. But it’s the new repulsor equipment that I think may be one of the best additions across the entire game. Trigger the repulsor and your spartan holds out their arm for a brief moment to deflect oncoming grenades and rockets. The idea is you can bat enemy grenades back at their sender, hopefully for a kill....

A new Bloomberg report details the rough journey developer 343 Industries took, leading up to the release of Halo Infinite this week. The game was originally inspired by Nintendo’s series, as the developers aimed to create an open-world version of Halo. However, a number of issues meant the entire game had to be considerably stripped back. Those issues include staff attrition rates at 343 Industries, conflicting creative decisions, and the developer’s game engine (named Faber) being difficult to use - so much so that a move to Unreal was considered for months, according to journalist Jason Schreier....

The video below shows off the video game version of Dune’s famous sand world, Arrakis, unit movement as well as the user interface. You can rally villages or force them into submission, and, as you’d expect, set up the spice harvesting process. I quickly fell in love with this brand new VR survival adventure game thanks to its incredibly gorgeous visuals and simple-to-grasp yet satisfyingly speedy movement schemes. Oh, and also the weirdly penis-y rope-bridge things that made me laugh until I cried. Unfortunately it’s not all sunshine and roses though. The gorgeous visuals of the games’ opening section are soon replaced by standard, gloomy, sci-fi corridor interiors, and this robs the game of its ‘wow’ factor quite significantly....
