Modern Warzone reported this year’s new Call of Duty is in development at Sledgehammer Games, maker of 2017’s well-received Call of Duty: WW2, and is due out late 2021. Eurogamer sources have indicated this is indeed true. Modern Warzone also reports this game is codenamed Call of Duty WW2: Vanguard, and reports the name will be changed in the future. While this may indeed be the case, Eurogamer understands Activision’s current plan is to stick with the Vanguard subtitle for the final version....

French publisher Microids has signed a deal with Asterix owner Albert Rene Editions for the games, which follow the upcoming - and promising looking! - Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All!. Microids said the new games will dip into various video game genres, but didn’t say anything else about them. Until then, we’ve got Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All!, which is developed by Mr. Nutz Studio and is due out on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on 25th November....

The project will adapt one of the best early Tintin comic books, from a time when the young reporter (and Snowy the dog) were not yet accompanied by sidekick Captain Haddock. The project - developed by Madrid-based adventure game maker Pendulo Studios, and published by French company Microids - was first mentioned by Microids back in April 2020, before all went quiet. We’ve been waiting to hear more ever since....

It’s due out early 2022 on Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. 2K is publishing. The trailer is below: Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands revolves around Tiny Tina, the popular Borderlands character voiced by Ashly Burch. It also stars “headstrong captain” Valentine, played by Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), “rule-obsessed robot” Frette, played by Wanda Sykes (Curb Your Enthusiasm), and the Dragon Lord, played by Will Arnett (Arrested Development)....

Jump-shotting - one of the more advanced tactics of Call of Duty competitive multiplayer - is done by players to make them harder to shoot, or to make it more likely they will be shot below the head and thus take less damage, while also shooting themselves. You tend to see players jump-shot around corners when they suspect an enemy is waiting for them. Jump-shotting has always been the subject of debate within the Call of Duty community, with some saying it has no place in the series, and others saying it benefits the skill gap....

At present, viewing the different game categories on Twitch brings up a grid view of various streams that need to be clicked on individually to view. The new version being tested adds a video at the top which auto-plays as users click through the grid of streams beneath, before choosing to join the stream or follow the streamer. This update will see players decking their halls with boughs of holly, thanks to a collection of new seasonal items that have been added to the game. This includes charming stockings, twinkling fairy lights, and even Santa’s very own sleigh (which comes complete with its own reindeer team). Meanwhile, thanks to the new Christmas tree additions, you could even say you will now be able to spruce your campus up a bit....

Writing in a new blog post on the Hyper Scape website, Ubisoft explained that while it considered the game’s open beta and launch on PC a success, “we were not able to achieve the high expectations we set for ourselves with our full release on console”. Ubisoft says that in order for the game to reach its “full potential”, it has identified five key pillars Hyper Scape’s team will now focus on so it can become an experience “everyone can play and enjoy”....

This is the next in the CMA’s ongoing investigation into the acquisition, which entered Phase 2 at the start of September when the regulator decided the deal required more in-depth scrutiny. Last week, as part of Phase 2, the CMA released its Issues Statement, detailing the focus of the inquiry’s second stage and setting out the potential areas of concern - known as “theories of harm” - it’s investigating. These relate to the acquisition’s impact on multi-game subscription services, the future of cloud gaming, and the availability of Activision content on rival platforms....

The Stalker 2 website, unsurprisingly, includes a message of support for Ukraine. The developer has also called for an end to Russia’s brutal invasion of its home country, as it struggles to continue development while Kyiv has been under attack. Now, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation has blocked access to the website for Russian audiences, removing access to anyone in the country without use of a proxy....

Call of Duty Warzone Season 3 released at 5pm on Wednesday 27th April - albeit a day earlier for Vanguard players - and the rush of players downloading and jumping into the new season has purportedly resulted in internet provider Virgin Media’s busiest day of the year thus far - and its second-busiest since records began. According to our sister site VGC, the average Virgin Media customer downloaded 12.1GB of data between 4pm and midnight on 27th April - that’s up 29 per cent on the preceding week - whilst the busiest period of 8-10pm saw an uptick in data consumption, 11....

The trial runs from 25th to 29th March on all platforms. A pre-load is available today, 24th March so you can get going as quickly as possible. Every character in the game is available to recruit and play as during the free trial in both single-player and online modes.
