Further DMZ details are still thin on the ground, however the developer has promised a “Tactical Overview” of its experience before launch, so something to keep your eyes peeled for....

Sporting a gorgeous Ghibli-esque art style, Europa promises a “peaceful game of adventure, exploration, and meditation” on terraformed moon in Jupiter’s shadow. Here, among lakes, meadows, mountains, and the remnants of a fallen civilisation, players - cast as an android called Zee - can run, glide, and fly across the landscape as they try to uncover the story of their creator. Alongside an “intimate story about growing up and humanity’s relationship with nature”, Europa promises puzzles, secrets, and hidden dangers, with players able to gradually upgrade their Zephyr jetpack to boost higher and further....

Last week, lead developer Conrad Grindheim released a YouTube video explaining that his relationship with the publisher had “dissolved” and he was requesting the publisher return the publishing rights to him. The dispute occurred due to Grindheim’s disappointment with the quality of the console release of the game, specifically on Switch. This is the premise of The Plane Effect - an indie title by PQube, Studio Kiku and Innovina Interactive that promises a dystopian and moody narrative experience. Players take on the role of Solo, a lonely office worker who’s trying to get home to his family after his last day of work. Somewhat worryingly, it seems Solo experiences some trouble remembering his family, and also has to contend with the shifting balance of space and time....

Though the secret modes can only be seen by players accessing the playlist offline - which sounds counter-intuitive, given Halo Infinite is an online multiplayer shooter - players can save and share the playlists, which then makes them playable online. The 14 additional modes - which brings the full playlist up to 31 different modes, including Elimination and the SWAT-like Tactical Slayer - include some brand new ones, including Attrition, in which you play with a battle royale closing circle, reviving fallen squaddies and boosting your team’s respawns....

New regulations are intended to protect users from content relating to terrorism, child sex abuse and racism, with VSPs such as Twitch, TikTok, Snapchat and Vimeo expected to take “appropriate measures”. Under-18s must also be protected from material which might impair their physical, mental or moral development. VSPs will be fined for any breach of guidelines, or suspended entirely for serious cases. The new requirements came into effect in November 2020....

It’s a price point that’s already been adopted by many publishers - including the likes of Sony, Take-Two, Activision Blizzard, and Gearbox - on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but Ubisoft, for its part, insisted it had “not made any decision yet” when asked about bumping its prices up during an investor call last year. Most of the games included on the list are getting on a bit, but three-year-old VR game Space Junkies is also getting pulled, and as its a “multiplayer-only title”, you will be “unable to play the game going forward”. Whilst the singleplayer features for these games will mostly be unaffected, multiplayer modes or online features may be unavailable after 1st September, along with the ability to buy DLC. In some instances, such as Ghost Recon Future Soldier, you’ll only be able to play the singleplayer campaign offline, and you won’t be able to link - or unlock goodies - via your Ubisoft account....

Breakpoint was, according to Eurogamer contributor Vikki Blake, “a broken, swirling vortex of recycled Ubisoft mechanics stamped across a dismal, forgettable world” at launch. However, following a commercial reception as limp as its critical one, Ubisoft announced it was working on a “more radical and immersive version” of its online tactical shooter. That’s according to Ubisoft’s own social media posts, which revealed that on 6pm UK time on 29th November (that’s 10am PT), the team will broadcast a “reveal livestream” about the upcoming expansion on its official Twitch channel. The Roblox Corporation initially launched legal action against Roblox YouTuber and content creator Benjamin Robert Simon, known as Ruben Sim, last November, accusing him of leading a “cybermob” against the platform and using “malice, fraud, and oppression” to commit unlawful acts intended to “injure Roblox and its users”. The lawsuit claimed Simon, who has been officially banned from Roblox for years for alleged terms of service violations, had repeatedly circumvented his ban to access the game, where he was accused of sexually harassing users, singling out individuals and groups for ridicule and abuse, using racial and homophobic slurs, attempting to upload a nude image of himself, attempting to upload a sex game, prolific profanity, and more....
