Even before this happens, performance will be “throttled” when the hardware is hot, Valve has said. Honestly, after the past couple of days, I can relate. “For our friends in the midst of a heatwave, a quick note about Steam Deck in high temperatures,” Valve wrote via Twitter last night. “Steam Deck performs at its best in ambient temperatures between zero and 35°C. If the temperature gets higher than this, Steam Deck may start to throttle performance to protect itself....

Developer Innersloth announced on its social media channels over the weekend that owing to a DDoS attack on both North American and European servers, “servers are still down while [it] works to fix” the issue. “We have a sabotage going on lol,” the official communications account tweeted at the start of the attack. “NA and EU servers are getting DDoS’d. Service will be offline while the team works on fixing it, but might take a bit, hang tight!...

Shoot 1Up is a shmup with a twist - instead of collecting 1Ups to use when you die, each one adds a ship which fights alongside you. Collect enough 1Ups, and you can have a total of 30 ships on screen at once - or 60 if you’re playing in couch co-op. The DX version introduces two additional levels on top of the original’s eight, as well as higher resolution art and a performance boost to 4K 60fps....

Why exactly was this car there? After all, the Chevy Tahoe in question is a GMT800, a model from the early noughties. Given that that is roughly 500 years before Master Chief’s time, it is unlikely that any of these cars would actually still be around. Well, not according to Halo showrunner Steven Kane. Revealed back in 2019, Weird West is the work of Colantonio’s WolfEye Studios and unfolds in a “dark fantasy reimagining of the Wild West where lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures, each playing with their own rules and their own peculiar motives.” It sets players on a journey “through the origin stories of a group of atypical heroes”, starting with bounty hunter Jane Bell - on a quest to discover her son’s killer and husband’s kidnapper - and moving from one character to the next until everything converges in the final chapter....

In a developer interview hosted by DICE, lead level designer Shashank Uchil said the team had taken on player feedback by focusing on adding cover and small spaces: “We want to make smaller levels; we want to have levels with more cover. All of that is in this level.” Uchil also spoke about the difficulties of redesigning the base maps to add more cover, largely to issue of adding more assets on such large maps without compromising on performance: “A level can be any size it needs to be, but it can only have so much content in it… If you add more cover, it needs to come from somewhere....

The video, currently available to watch on the Battlefield subreddit (with an epilepsy warning), confirms a near future setting for the upcoming DICE-developed game. We also hear soldiers shout, a rocket attempt to launch into space before collapsing onto the ground, and, at the end, a reveal of the title “Battlefield”. Eurogamer understands this video was made by EA for internal use only, and was not intended to be seen by the public....

The BBC confirmed iPlayer’s roll-out on PS5 this morning, just over a year after the console first launched. As you’d expect, the app offers streaming in up to UHD quality for supported programs (and if you have the right screen attached). To download iPlayer on PS5, head to the Media tab on your PS5 home screen, then select BBC iPlayer from the All Apps section. “We’re always working to make iPlayer available across as many platforms as we can, and we’re delighted to add the PS5 to the 15,000+ devices where BBC iPlayer is already available,” BBC iPlayer head of product Neil Hall said today....

Black Adam was set to join the roster of fighters sometime during this week, but developer Player First Games has stated he is “not quite ready” yet....

Blizzard’s veteran of the same name left earlier this month in the wake of California’s lawsuit which alleges sexual harassment and a “frat boy” culture at the company, although no specific reason was given for his exit. The real-life McCree was one of several men apparently pictured posing together on a bed with a photo of disgraced US comedian Bill Cosby. The disturbing picture allegedly showed the interior of the “Cosby suite” - a hotel room once used at BlizzCon for partying....

The company announced the game’s next free update - wave 3 of additional content - will also be its last free update. Previous DLC added Daisy, Shy Guy, Pauline, and Diddy Kong as playable characters, as well as new gear and stadiums. Watch the trailer for wave 3 below to see who’s been signed to the league next! Announced last August, The Wandering Village tasks players with constructing a safe haven for a group of survivors in a dangerous, post-apocalyptic world. Its city building aspects might be familiar, but those are combined with resource management, rogue-like elements, and survival, all connected to the ever-moving creature, known as Onbu, the survivors now call home. “Forging a relationship between the villagers and Onbu might be challenging at times, as their interests often don’t align,” Stray Fawn explains....

Writing on Bungie.net, community chief Chris ‘Cozmo’ Shannon said the developer was in no rush to fix the bug, which Destiny 2 players have been enjoying in recent weeks. Destiny raids are normally capped at six players - and indeed are designed for six players, although you can play them with fewer guardians. The video from YouTuber Scrub below goes into detail on how to activate the glitch. It involves the leader of a second six-person fireteam joining your party when you see two seconds on the launch timer....

The video below, published on the YouTube channel of GoldenEye 007 content creator Graslu00 (via GoldenEye Dossier), shows the full game played on the OO Agent difficulty in 4k resolution and 60 frames-per-second, with 30 minutes of multiplayer at the end. The footage shows GoldenEye 007 XBLA running on an emulator to achieve the higher resolution. In 2007 Microsoft-owned Rare developed an HD remaster of its N64 classic to be released on XBLA, but copyright disputes saw the project shuttered....

An enhanced edition of The Witcher 3 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S - promising the likes of ray-tracing and faster loader times - was announced last September, while a “proper” next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 was touted in June 2020. Both were initially scheduled for launch this year, but the status of each has been somewhat unclear in light of Cyberpunk 2077’s disastrous launch and the resulting studio reshuffle and revised development roadmap as CD Projekt worked to improve the base game....

Earlier this month, the developer unveiled its forthcoming plans, including a Witcher project called Canis Majoris by a third-party. Turns out that’s a remake of the first Witcher game, developed by Fool’s Theory with supervision by CD Projekt Red.
