The notoriously secretive Pokémon Company has been especially silent about the forthcoming game, with no access for hands-on previews and information controlled through limited trailers. Yet the game has still leaked before release, with the internet already rife with spoilers - we won’t be revealing any here. It’s unclear how streamers have got their hands on the game, be it through official boxed copies or other digital data leaks. Still, at the time of writing, at least 15 streamers on Twitch from around the world are playing the game with collectively over 800 viewers watching....

Games Done Quick organisers opted to ditch the annual summer speed-running event’s real-world component back in June 2020, as the severity of the coronavirus outbreak become more widely understood, and the online-only model has remained in place for all its events since then, including January’s annual Awesome Games Done Quick showcase. Now, though, as detailed on its website, Summer Games Done Quick is finally ready to throw open its actual (non-digital) doors once more, and is aiming to welcome guests from 26th June to 3rd July....

Super Mario Run Ghost Houses - found in World 2-1, World 5-3 and World 6-2 - work surprisingly well with the game’s one-tap conceit, seeing you wrap around the screen to work out how to press switches, leap up from launch pads or simply avoid hitting hordes of ghosts. They also hide the game’s Pink, Purple and Black Coins devilishly well, so here’s a guide specifically for these stages and their hidden collectibles....

Others within Team17 were aware of the NFT collaboration after the deal was signed and voiced their disapproval of it - only for it to be announced anyway. It remains to be seen if Team17 will still push forward with the actual sale of Worms NFTs following the universally negative feedback today on social media. Eurogamer has contacted both Team17 and NFT partner Reality Gaming Group for more. In a new statement, Team17 told Eurogamer that its ambitions to launch NFT collectibles would not translate into the introduction of NFTs into the indie games it publishes....

The admission came after the developer teased it had “a few words to share with [fans] about the Dying Light 2 development process”, promising more information would follow on Wednesday, 17th March. In a follow-up tweet further down the chain, however, the official Dying Light Twitter account responded to a fan who admitted they were “shocked” and wondered if the game was in “development hell”. “[As far as I know], the definition of a dev hell requires the game to not make any development progress, while DL2 keeps moving forward,” the response says....

Level Infinite - which is based in Amsterdam and Singapore with staff located around the world - will be providing studios with a broad range of support and services, including assistance with technology, production, esports integrations, and international publishing, alongside insight and analysis for games-as-service and local/global markets. Its initial publishing roster will include Arena of Valor, Don’t Starve: Newhome for mobile devices, NExT Studios’ Synced: Off Planet for PC, plus unspecified titles from from Lightspeed and Quantum Studios, TiMi Studio Group, and “several” third-party developers....

Reuters, which broke the story, reports that if true, that makes Timi “the world’s largest developer”, providing the studio with “a hefty basis for its ambitions to move beyond mobile games and compete directly with global heavyweights developing expensive AAA titles on platforms such as desktop computers, Sony’s PlayStation, Nintendo’s Switch and Microsoft’s Xbox”. The news comes after Tencent publicly reported it had generated 156.1 billion yuan (£17 billion) in revenue from its game business, but stopped short of revealing the revenue for each individual studio....

Gematsu spotted a listing for The Ascent on the website of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). This follows a similar listing spotted last month in Taiwan. I imagine an announcement isn’t too far off. The Ascent, which launched first on PC and Xbox in July, is a cyberpunk-themed action role-playing game developed by Swedish outfit Neon Giant. I had a good time with the game, despite some glaring technical issues Neon Giant spent the second half of last year sorting out....

There’s a lot of love that’s built around Coffee Talk in the year since it’s been out, and it’s not terribly hard to see why. It really is that warm and relaxing drink Fahmi intended (and this, incidentally, is an ideal time of year to play it). Low-fi beats lounge in the background while beautifully pixel-drawn characters sit down to talk with you. There’s no stress, there’s no rush, there’s just you and them, words and lives....

It’s a similarly styled sim game, this time taking place in space - obviously. Players will construct a spaceship and go on adventures across multiple, procedurally generated star systems. The team is quick to note the game is not even in alpha yet, but has released a lengthy video showing off gameplay with placeholder art - give it a watch below. Players will be given a basic ship they can kit out with reactors, engines, air supplies and the like, which are connected through pipes and fuelled with various resources....

In the video, presenters of the tool embarrassingly apply their findings to Nintendo’s series. Apparently the game lacks diversity in ability and sexual orientation, as the characters aren’t disabled and are all presumed straight. How you can tell someone’s sexual orientation just by looking at them is beyond me. However, the presenters do praise the fact the brothers are Italian, which allows their position on the tool’s graph to be a little more “out there” - whatever that means....

A remake of the original Silent Hill is currently being made in Unreal Engine 5 by a group called Codeless Games (via DSO Gaming). And not only is it in development, but we have also been given a peak at 10 minutes of gameplay that focuses on Midwich Elementary School (a major building that protagonist Harry Mason explores in a bid to find his missing daughter). This project does a pretty good job at setting the scene and overall atmosphere....

The original Spa Day (one of EA’s mid-tier Game Packs, sitting between the smaller-scale Stuff Packs and more substantial Expansion Packs) brought a focus on health and relaxation to the Sims 4, adding the new spa building type where visiting Sims could de-stress and re-energise, enjoying everything from steam baths and stone massages to yoga and meditation. As outlined in developer Maxis’ latest livestream, next week’s surprisingly expansive update to Spa Day will bring new features and tighter integration with the core game....

Shenmue isn’t for everyone, and the make or break moment, I think, is in the last third or so of the story. Though the heart of the game is undoubtedly in its sleepy neighbourhoods and the downtown area of Dobuita, with shops, bars and arcades lining its winding streets, the harbour is when things get truly interesting - and is where the game’s devotion to the everyday and all its mundanities - which I mean with the utmost affection, as it’s the game’s strength!...

These limited edition Pringles, sold exclusively in Walmart (so we don’t have to suffer them on these shores) riffs on a Halo: Reach in-joke - and a rather niche one at that. OK, some background. In the world of Halo, the moa is an ostrich-looking creature native to the planet Reach. So the lore goes, moas were used as pets and also food. They’re sort of like Halo’s version of the chocobo from Final Fantasy....

That’s according to a single, and only mildly informative, slide found within publisher 505 Games’ latest fiscal year financial results presentation (as spotted by Gematsu) - which, as well as noting that Bloodstained has now sold more than 1m copies, amassing over €30m in sales, confirms a “second version” is currently in development. As Gematsu points out, “second version”, although a somewhat unusual turn of phrase in this context, appears throughout the presentation in conjunction with other properties that have confirmed sequels, such as One More Level’s action-parkour game Ghostrunner....
