A number of Twitch streamers in the region are reportedly unable to receive earned money from bits and subscriptions and are sharing their experiences on social media with the hashtag #twitch_arab_streamers (thanks, TheGamer). Screenshots of emails from Twitch suggest an issue “due to a discrepancy with certain tax information provided during the onboarding process”. However, streamers say their tax information has been used for years and that the payment block has been implemented without notice....

Sanderson - whose expansive oeuvre includes the likes of the Mistborn saga and the final chapter in Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series - made the comments during a panel at 2021’s Dragonsteel MiniCon (as spotted by TechRadar), which has recently surfaced online. In a segment discussing the events leading up to Mistborn character Kelsier’s rather unexpected appearance in Fortnite, Sanderson segued onto the topic of Elden Ring. “Let me be salty,” Sanderson began his mock tirade....

When Capcom previously discussed Title Update 2 at the end of last month, it confirmed that monster variant Flaming Espinas would be one ofits new additions. It’s now announced two additional variants for the release - the aforementioned Violet Mizutsune and Risen Chameleos - both appering in its latest update trailer. There’s not much information about the Violet Mizutsune just yet, but the Risen Chameleos is described as an Elder Dragon that has “overcome the affliction by achieving symbiosis with the Qurio, gaining great strength and new abilities”....

Melody of Moominvalley is being developed by Norwegian studio Hyper Games and promises to take players on a “cosy” adventure in which they’ll need to harness the power of music and their trusty harmonica in order to restore nature after the Park Keeper and his minions build hideous parks all over Moominvalley. Moominvalley itself is presented as fully explorable open world, rendered with a wonderfully appealing storybook art style, and is said to feature a “charming” cast of characters for players to encounter as their adventure unfolds, each with a story to tell and quests to complete....

I used to have it down as otherworldly, which is perhaps an overly literal reading of all that dissonance you’ll find during Darius’ late 90s pomp - listening to the soundtracks for Darius Gaiden or G-Darius, where the strangeness is maxed-out, it feels like you’ve chanced upon some transmission from a distant star. Earlier entries chimed with alien melodies, sampled voices that sound like they’re reaching out to you from another dimension while beats skitter in and out of time - a realisation of composer Hisayoshi Ogura’s desire to break free from soundtrack convention....

The Ukrainian-based group announced its decision in a Twitter post today, and said ESForce had denied “the horror that is now happening” in its country. ESForce is a holding company which includes Russia’s top esports team Virtus.pro, esports media organisation Cybersport.ru, and the Moscow-based esports complex Yota Arena. “It is the sixth day of war in Ukraine,” Navi wrote in its statement. “The Russian army continues to attack civilian areas: hundreds of thousands of residents have left their homes, the others continue to fight for the future of our country....

Titled LLL, the game is a sci-fi, third-person shooter MMO set in Seoul. LLL was revealed alongside an interview with the game’s project leader Bae Jaehyun and two videos. The first video, embedded above, is a gameplay trailer - albeit gameplay from a development build. The footage shows the playable character moving through a dilapidated building to a run-down train tunnel, whilst gunning down heavily armoured mutant foes. The player then emerges above ground, where a battle between their human allies and the enemies is in full swing....

Jonathan Andersen, senior production manager at NetherRealm, tweeted the image below before scrubbing it 10 minutes later. But of course the internet spotted it and saved it for analysis (thanks, reddit!). Squint at the top right-hand corner of the image and you’ll see the bottom of Anderson’s monitor, which includes “MK12_Mast”. That’ll be Mortal Kombat 12, then. In keeping with the tease is an email from someone called Christine warning against sharing a video because NetherRealm’s fans “eagerly scrape the internet” for this stuff....

Announced in 2018 and launched the following year, Fallout 76 - an online take on Bethesda’s beloved post-apocalyptic RPG series - was less than well-received at launch. Eurogamer’s Wesley Yin-Poole even went as far as to call it a “bizarre, boring, broken mess” before slapping it with an Avoid badge. Now, a lengthy new report from Kotaku - based on conversations with 10 former employees of Bethesda and parent company ZeniMax Media - has shed fresh light on the troubled development that lead to such a poorly received game, one seemingly doomed from the start....

The MMO launches proper on 28th September. Digging into the detail, the New World open beta uses Steam’s new playtest feature, with servers available in North America, Europe, Australia and South America. It kicks off 3pm UK time on 9th September, and ends 8am UK time on 12th September.

In a brief update on the MMO’s official forums, community manager Luxendra explained that the seasonal event will now continue until 25th January, 2022 - two weeks more than the original 11th January end date - giving players an extra chance to complete the quests and activities available in the game’s first event since launch. “Due to the fantastic turnout we’ve seen from this event, we’ve decided to extend it to January 25th!...

But on the digital side of things, existing Switch owners can find that a new raft of deals have gone live today. With over 600 games currently discounted on the Nintendo eShop, it’s easy to get lost when trying to find the gems. Some titles go for literal pennies but not every sale here is equal. There’s no 1st party options currently present, it’s all 3rd party developers but there’s big names going cheap including Ace Attorney, Monster Hunter, Oddworld and more....

The issue shows up as error code 2123-1502, for which there are steps on Nintendo’s customer support site. But fans affected by the problem say these do not fix the bug in most cases. A spate of reports flagging up this error code erupted this week when Nintendo released a small and otherwise unimportant system update. But, fans say, Nintendo’s steps do not always solve the issue. We’ve heard from a number of Switch owners affected who have tried the above steps to no avail....

Yesterday, fan gossip was sparked by the description of a poster on the BioWare store. The poster is a print of the teaser image BioWare released last November for its in-development Mass Effect game, and was described thus: “While Shepard and the survivors are left to pick up the pieces, fans are left wondering what’s next.” This description (which was later corrected to remove Shepard’s name) was enough to spark YouTube videos, as well as articles from various blogs and websites....

Update: As of patch 1.07 from developer Hello Games, this inventory duplication exploit has been removed, with players now unable to see their graves by loading up a previous save after death. I bloody love ghosts. All levels here have optional challenges, but that ghost! I realised I definitely wanted to trick through it, to advance-trick through it even! So I had to do what I so rarely choose to do in games. I had to do something that, in a game with the sheer headlong pelt of OlliOlli World, seems like breaking an underlying law. I had to go back. Back to the tutorial I had sped through hours before and forgotten, back to the heart of the advance tricks system to gain a proper understanding of these beautiful, terrible things....
