UPDATE 4pm UK: In the past few hours, more developers have announced donations to charitable causes in aid of Ukraine. Swedish studio Fatshark, developer of Warhammer Vermintide 2, said it had been “shocked by events in Ukraine” and would donate 300k SEK (around £25k) to the Red Cross. Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream, now working on Star Wars: Eclipse, said it was “deeply concerned by the escalating events”, and that its “thoughts are with our friends and trusted partners in the region”....

Headhunter - a “stylised and colourful, third-person co-op action adventure” that was announced last November - initially looked like it would be the sixth entry in the celebrated series, following on from SteamWorld Tower Defense, SteamWorld Dig, SteamWorld Heist, SteamWorld Dig 2, and SteamWorld Quest. That may no longer be the case, however. According to Thunderful’s latest earnings report (thanks IGN), Headhunter, which is now scheduled for a 2023 release, won’t be the only SteamWorld title coming that year....

It’s a music rhythm game where you play a trombone. Sounds simple, right? You’d be wrong. Even though there’s some of the most famous classical pieces included, like Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and even the national anthem, no amount of music knowledge will save you here. The story is silly (you need to toot and improve so you get approval from a baboon?) but the game knows it’s not intended to be serious and rolls with it well....

The expansion will add three new campus locations, six student archetypes, six new courses and classrooms, and more. It’s set for release on 6th December across all platforms except Switch, which will arrive on the 12th December. Check out the trailer below - it’s clear the Two Point team are Trekkies. The new courses include anti-gravity training, and space combat, the Command Room will allow students to develop leadership skills, and campuses will be filled with astronauts, space knights, and even alien students....

A brief message posted to Ubisoft’s Twitter last night revealed the publisher would be present at this August’s Cologne-based convention, though did not detail what games might be on offer. Ubisoft’s decision comes after the recent pull-outs from Sony, Nintendo, Activision Blizzard and Take-Two, which have all chosen not to attend. Microsoft has yet to make an announcement - though it’s unclear what it might bring. Pre-pandemic, Gamescom was the world’s largest games show by attendance, with more than 370,000 gamers pouring through its doors back in 2019....

In the live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog’s globetrotting adventure series, Tom Holland steps into the shoes of charming hero Nathan Drake. However, despite many lauding Holland’s portrayal of the lovable rogue, the film itself appears to have fallen flat. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently sits at 51 percent, with the critics’ consensus being that Uncharted is “promisingly cast but misleadingly titled” and it “mines its bestselling source material to produce a disappointing echo of superior adventure films”....

It’s described as a hard sci-fi first-person narrative game set in 2045, not that the sci-fi elements are particularly apparent from the debut trailer. This shows you, a neuroscientist called Joshua Hayes, waking up on the floor of presumably your own apartment, with a voice - and written messages on the walls - telling you not to trust anyone. But you can’t remember what is going on. Hayes suffers from a rare genetic disorder that affects his memory, so the focus in the game is trying to recover those memories by re-experiencing them....

A new update has been released for the game, focused predominantly on changes to the Pearl map. Yet nestled in the patch notes is a social update to add a “disruptive gameplay-based behaviour indicator”. Watch on YouTube Riot Games available with Xbox Game Pass “We’ve introduced a feature that will show at the end of game screen, which players have been detected for engaging in disruptive gameplay-based behaviour,” reads the update....

Though the Steam Deck Steam page mentions the dock and still invites interested players to wishlist the item, we’ve not seen nor heard much about it since Valve began shipping its sought-after handheld system. As spotted by NME, Valve has the dock on display at Tokyo Game Show, giving fans a chance to check out the new kit and count - and argue about - those all-important ports on the back, which crucially seem to show just one USB-C port, which is for the power cable....

Geoff Keighley tweeted to say gamescom Opening Night Live, which kicks off at 7pm UK time on Wednesday, will feature a new look at Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The last time we saw the game in action was August 2020, with the gameplay trailer, below: The Skywalker Saga, an all-new retelling of all nine Star Wars films, was revealed at E3 2019 and was initially expected to come out in late 2020 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S, but it was delayed to spring 2021....

Of course, you can expect a set of rewards in exchange for your efforts. Despite what the map changes for Season 4 might suggest, the already downed Satellites are not what you’re after - instead, you must crash a Satellite yourself.
